About

Research has shown that as an amateur musician it is difficult to make connections in the music industry with fellow musicians with the same music taste.

Currently it is mainly done through friends, jam sessions, forums and social media such as Facebook.

To facilitate the findability of all musicians, my client has come up with a concept in which musicians can easily get in touch with each other and rent a music studio.

Personas

Program requirements

(M) = Must have
(S) = Should have
(C) = Could have

User needs

The end user is looking for a fellow musician. He expects the app to come up with interesting matches and expects him to be encouraged to use the app.

  • The musician must be able to approach a fellow musician (M).
  • The musicians must be able to communicate with each other (M).
  • You should be able to book a rehearsal room online (S).
  • You must be able to filter for a musician (S).

Functional needs

The user wants to achieve his/her goal. For this, the app must have a number of things in order, otherwise this is not possible.

  • The app should notify the user when there is a match (S).
  • Remove a user if not interested (S).
  • De app moet een chatfunctie hebben (M).
  • De app moet een overzicht bieden van all beschikbare muziek centrums en beschikbaarheden (C).
  • You should be able to reserve a rehearsal room via the app (M).

Technical needs

To build an app like Tinder (for iPhone) you need the programs Swift and Objective C. If you want to use your own back-end, you can use the programs Ruby, Python, PHP and Java (perhaps there are more languages to realize this).

Chat function
You can achieve this with XMPP or Firebase.

Transfer data to server
The REST APIs ensures that the data from your mobile is sent to the server.

  • User preferences must be saved (M).
  • The performers’ results should be based on distance, type of person (age, male/female) and music preferences (S).

User Journey

Seductive principles

Curiosity

A map will be displayed showing you how many musicians are near you, but the exact location you don’t see the musicians, which makes you curious to have a look who they are.

Trigger

Getting notifications about friendship requests or invitations to a private jam sessions, triggers you to open the app.

Contrast

By using contrast you can clearly see what you have selected and if a button has an important function, you want it to stand out and the user sees it right away.
